ACL Permissions (i.e. Access Control List Permissions)
Access Control Lists (ACL) are a set of data that informs a computer’s operating system which permissions, or access rights, that each user or group has to a specific system object, such as a directory or file. Each object has a unique security attribute that identifies which users have access to it, and the ACL is a list of each object and user access privileges such as read, write or execute. This is a A flexible and powerful approach to controlling system access to users. Image Portal utilizes an ACL Permissions system.

Adobe Graphics Server (i.e. AGS)
Adobe Graphics Server is a server-based imaging engine that automates the creation and repurposing of graphics for print and the Web. AGS enables users to reuse existing images by automatically generating variations based on different color modes, sizes, resolutions, and file types. Scripts can be developed to automate routine tasks, making it quick and easy to apply changes to a large number of files. Image Portal SE and Image Portal EE utilize Adobe Graphics Server for image repurposing.

Application Server
Server software that manages one or more pieces of software in a way that makes the managed software available over a network, usually to a Web server. By having a piece of software manage other software packages it is possible to use resources like memory and database access more efficiently than if each of the managed packages responded directly to requests. Image Portal supports many popular J2EE-compliant Application Servers, and ships with Apache Tomcat.

Auto-Task
Auto-tasking is a Digital Asset Management workflow automation concept whereby repetitive tasks such a repurposing, renaming, adding metadata, category re-assignment, and distribution are automated. This is achieved by setting up filters that read files when they are imported. A series of tasks, processes, and destinations are then assigned to these filters. Auto-tasking is one of many workflow automation features of Image Portal.
